Tysa Slade, LMFT

Salt Lake City Trauma & Mental Health Counseling

My approach

What I Offer

Support for individuals struggling with trauma, attachment, depression, and other mental health issues. Specializing in the treatment of trauma-related conditions as well as addiction recovery work. Experienced in treating depression,  anxiety,  adolescent issues, marriage and family problems, relationship concerns, attachment and developmental concerns, and grief associated with significant loss.

Trauma-Informed Care

Trauma-informed care shifts the focus from “What’s wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?” A trauma-informed approach to care acknowledges that health care organizations and care teams need to have a complete picture of a patient’s life situation — past and present — in order to provide effective health care services with a healing orientation.

Treatment for Trauma

Trauma-focused Psychotherapies are the most highly recommended type of treatment for PTSD. “Trauma-focused” means that the treatment focuses on the memory of the traumatic event or its meaning. These treatments use different techniques to help you process your traumatic experience.

Evidence-based treatment

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

A psychotherapy treatment that was originally designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

A revolutionary form of psychotherapy that has been shown to be effective in treating PTSD and other mental diseases. Accelerated Resolution Therapy, as the name implies, works more quickly than other kinds of therapy.

Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)

An evidence-based treatment for children and adolescents impacted by trauma and their parents or caregivers. Research shows that TF-CBT successfully resolves a broad array of emotional and behavioral difficulties associated with single, multiple and complex trauma experiences.
